Rambling Linguistically

Here’s a short piece that I have written of fighting for animal rights from the point of view of a host.

“When I look into the eyes of an animal I do not see an animal.  I see a living being. I see a friend. I feel a soul.”

Hello everyone, I am Nishtha Sarda and today I feel highly privileged to be invited to speak at this glamorous fashion event, “ Walking The Runway for PETA.” What you have witnessed today are designers across India showcasing their Vegan designer collection! Let’s give them a huge thunderous applause.

They have emulated Peta’s motto. Animals are not ours to experiment on, to eat, to wear, use for entertainment or abuse in any other way.

Now as I proceed with the event, as an entertained host I would like to share something with you unless one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened, and it will always be, in the next few generations. You might wonder why Right? Well, it’s because there are not going to be any more animals left in this city, in this state,  in this country or in this world. Not even in any other living planet. Isn’t that shocking??  You must wonder how people kill animals even though they haven't even touched them. Well just look closely at your own attire. The material used in it is made of animal. 98% of all the materials are made from animals just like  - 1. wool - sheep 2. Silk - silkworms 3. Cashmere - Goat 4.  Karakul - Lamb 5. Vicuna - Camels and Llama 6. Angora wool - Rabbit 7. Shahtoosh - Tibetan antlers and many more.

Now say aren’t we inadvertently harming animals? And now even, if you are not convinced with this, I can give you one more reason how are animals are harmed. For luxury,  new furniture is made by harming the environment by deforestation. Moreover, the trees are the shelter and home for many of the animals and when trees are axed the animals lose their natural habitats!! Thus in the event of, a natural disaster like a flood, it claims the lives of the poor animals. For their safety, we need to provide them with homes and shelter, but majority of the world’s population would hate to do that as they care only about themselves and economic growth.

I guess that's why Mrs. Ingrid Newkrik the great founder of the great animal care centre PETA created PETA. PETA is an organization which fights animal abuse across the world. Here at Walk the Runway with

PETA, you have witnessed local designers and manufacturers who have teamed up with PETA to exhibit to create innovative, high-quality cruelty-free materials. These vegan fabrics are made from twill, cotton, recycled polyester, milkweed-pod fibres, silk-cotton tree and ceiba tree filaments, polyester, and rayon are animal-free, easy to find, and usually less expensive than silk.  These efficient materials wick away water, dry faster, and are better for the environment than wool, leather, fur, silk which are derived from animals.

Please save animals because they have also been given a life to live and unlike us, they die so early just because of us. Please Change your wardrobe.

Let’s pledge not to wear leather.

Let’s pledge not to wear wool
